Hi everyone,
I have had a request from one of my Feline Playful team members to show the cherub cot that I made a couple of days ago. Some of the team are from overseas and hadn't heard of a 'Cherub Cot.' I confused Donna when I mentioned it and she went away to look it up on the internet so here it is.
The Cherub Cot was for my son's friend and his partner. Sam gave birth to a baby girl on Tuesday 8th January and they are calling her Grace Louise. It made a change from the 21st birthday cards that I have been making for him recently but they take much longer to put together.
Although, the cot was for a baby girl, I decided to make it in a cream colour for a change. I used the template from Arty Farty to make the cot and the presentation box and used double sided A3 card. To stick the card together, I used red liner tape and also Collall glue where the use of wet glue was needed. I decorated the box with small cream daisy braid around the acetate aperture. The aperture in the headboard of the cot has a cream organza fabric to add effect and above it, I used gold coloured peel offs to put the word 'BABY',
Inside the cot, I made a quilt cover using the same cream organza material that I used in the headboard and edged it with cream lace. The mobile was made using cream card and six cream teddy motifs attached to white thread and a white flower bead. The tag is made from the same cream card, has some ribbon threaded through and the words 'Congratulations Sam and Simon' on one side using gold peel offs to match the wording on the cot headboard, on the other side of the tag, I put the baby's name, date she was born, time and weight again in gold peel offs so that they could hopefully keep it as a keepsake.
I had a deadline in which to make the cot as my son was seeing Simon, the father, at 7.30 on the Thursday to play football. We received a text later that night to say 'Thank you' and that Sam had cried when she saw the cot!!
I'm glad she liked it.
I made a pink one for my friend who became a grandmother for the first time at the end of November, and also one for my hubby's secretary in October. The link is http://wendyhsblog.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/a-new-arrival.html
I also made a white one for a competition in November, which I am pleased to say I won. This one was in white. The link is http://wendyhsblog.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/white-on-white.html
I apologise for the poor quality of the photographs but I was running out of time and had to get the cot there for 7.30!! It was all done in a bit of a rush.
I hope you and my Feline Playful friends like it and thank you for stopping by.
Have a great weekend.
Wendy xx

That is wonderful. I am rubbish at things like that - they always end up scruffy and wonky! Ali x
OMG! That is gorgeous! I had not seen one all ivory before, and it looks so dainty, rich and elegant, Wendy. SO BEAUTIFUL. The photos are great. Can't believe how straight you put that darling little lace on the outside, and the VERY cute little mobile on top, with tiny little teddy bears. Wow! So gorgeous. Thanks for sharing, Wendy!
That is amazing Wendy. I bet she cried, I want to and I am just seeing a picture. The mobile blew me away. xoxox your Feline Playful Friend.
