Iris Stepper Card

Hi there, friends and followers,

Today, I thought I would share with you a card I made using the new 'Kew Floral Collection' Cd from Kraftyhands also known as the 'Floral Stepper Cd Collection'

I used one of the items from the card making section. All the components are there to make a stepper card.

I think this is my favourite image. My favourite colour is blue and I think the background paper is so soft in colour.

The image is decoupaged and matted onto a piece of blue centura pearl cardstock from my stash. On the base of the card, I have decoupaged two irises and placed one at each side of the sentiment which reads 'Happy Birthday'.

Thank you for taking the time to pop over and have a look.

Easter card and basket

Hi friends and followers,

Today I thought I would share with you an Easter card and basket that I made using the Sunshine and Smiles Cd from Kraftyhands.

I like this Cd, I think it has some cute characters on it and they can be found in a number of different colours, all beautiful. The design I chose for my card is a little girl with a daisy face and is standing in half of an egg, that's why I chose it.

(My DT card for the March Kraftyhands challenge was this design but in a different colour). I decoupaged the image and added a bow to the egg to match the bow in her hair. I matted the topper onto a dark green card that I had in my stash and mounted it onto a 6x6 card blank. I used card candy for the corners, but as I did not have the colour I needed for the card, I coloured 4 of them in  CG2 from my Spectrum Noir pens. There are lots of sentiments on the design sheet that you print out, but I took one of these into Craft Artist and changed the wording to 'Happy Easter'.

Inside, I fixed an insert which coordinates with the front of the card.

For the basket, I printed out the same  backing paper that is on the front of the card onto an A4 piece of card. On the reverse, I printed a yellow gingham backing paper which also matches the centre of the topper on the card. To cover the joins on the basket, I cut a circle from the Standard Circles Large Dies in the yellow gingham backing paper, and a smaller one using the same dies in the green hexagonal patchwork paper and then fixed the daisy face in the centre of these.

I used a Martha Stewart punch to decorate the handle (arches, I think) and fixed a ribbon from the Cd to the centre of the handle. This reads - 'Sunshine and Smiles'. I filled the basket with yellow tissue paper and then added some chocolates. My first choice was Cadbury Creme eggs but they didn't match the basket, so I changed them to these Ferrero Rocher chocolates - none of which I can eat because I am allergic to them. I'm sure my husband or son will manage to eat them though!

I would like to enter this project into the following challenges:
Hobbycutz - Easter/Easter Box (2W, S, 54) (TBA Sun 7th April)

Happy 21st James

Hi friends and followers,

I thought I would share with you a card I made for one of my son's friends who turned 21 today. He is into bikes and has a Yamaha R6 which this one is, (it said so on the label!!). Well I say he is into bikes. Yesterday, the day before his 21st, he went for a ride on his bike and had a blowout and came off the bike and dislocated his shoulder!! I had already made the card, so I'm afraid, this is what he got for his birthday, my son still wanted to send it to him.

I used 'The Big One' Cd Rom, by La Pashe, for the decoupaged image and took one of the backing papers from 'The Best of Justinklined' in to Craft Artist and made it larger, to fit the card I was going to use. I also made the tiles in Craft Artist with the letters and numbers and the word 'Congratulations' so that it would match the rest of the card, using a light blue colour from the bike image.

I made a stepper card from a template that I made, the opposite opening to yesterday's stepper. The topper is one of the 'Pile Up' toppers and is a pyrimage effect. I matted the dark blue gingham backing paper onto black card and then fixed this onto the card. I did this on the main central part, on the two side panels and on the bottom panel. I cut out the letter and number tiles and matted these onto black card (what a pain, but worth it, I think!). As you can see, I spelt the word 'James' down one side panel, 'Today' down the other and put '21' along the top. I placed the word 'Congratulations' along the bottom panel. Again, I wasn't sure whether I had gone over the top with the lettering, but my son thought it was great, so that was good enough for me.

I hope James has a good birthday and that his shoulder is better soon. My son has just gone to pick him up to take him to college because he can't drive or ride his bike at the moment!

Thank you for popping by and thank you in advance for your comments, I really do appreciate them.

Happy crafting.

Happy Birthday Dad

Hi friends and followers,

Here is a card I made for my son to send to his Dad on his birthday. I just haven't got round to posting it on here until now. I made it when my uncle was ill and must have been in a daze at the time. I'm never sure what to do with the side panels on these, sometimes they can look bare if they are just left. I think in this case I might have gone for the 'overkill', the pictures at the side look a bit much. Once they were stuck on though, there wasn't a lot I could do without ruining the card and I didn't have the time or inclination to make another!!

It's a centre stepper card. The base is black card and I layered a piece of pale blue backing paper onto this from the Wellington Pasttimes Cd from Docrafts. I decoupaged the topper and matted this onto black card. I took four small toppers from the embellishment section and matted these onto black card also to add interest to the side sections.

At the bottom of the card, I have a sentiment 'Happy Birthday Dad' which was written digitally using the Cd. This was matted onto a slightly darker blue backing paper and matted onto black card.

I wasn't thinking when I fixed the verse to the card and stuck it on the back. Both Thomas and his Dad didn't mind and both liked the card.

Thank you for taking the time to pop along and for leaving a comment. I read them all and appreciate them.

Thank you and take care.

Sadly we are to lose a much valued member of our team, life keeps getting in the way doesn't it, and of course has to take priority. For you lovely people though it gives you the opportunity to join our wonderful, supportive group of travelers in blogland - and boy do we travel to get these posts done. As usual I can't offer you such incentives as you'd get from being part of a challenge blog DT, but there is satisfaction in being part of something so big, and the knowledge you are serving a grateful crafting community.....and of course you have a link to your personal blog on the ... more »

Elegant Lady Candle Card

Hi friends and followers,

Today I thought I would share with you a card I made using 'A Touch of Elegance' Cd rom by Cupcakecrafting. It was shown on Create and Craft on the 4 day deal but I haven't posted it yet on my blog.

It is an easel card with a box with scented tealights in it to act as the stopper. I used a backing paper from the Cd and matted this onto black card. This was placed on the base and on the easel part. I also made the box fro the stopper from the same backing paper. I matted the topper onto black card and then layered this onto the backing paper which was itself matted onto black card.

In the top right hand corner I placed a cream feather and placed a large hatpin into this. On the bottom towards the left hand side, I added a string of pearls to add interest.

I chose purple and cream tealights and placed these in the box. I attached a purple flower to one side of the box and two on the other side. These were purchased from Joanna Sheen a while ago and I have forgotten their name - sorry.

Thank you for taking the time to pop over and leave a comment, I appreciate it.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:-

Get Well Soon

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't been around for a while, but we have had some family issues again. Not to worry, I'm here now and hoping to blog more regularly.

Here is a card I made using the Vintage Treasures Cd which was shown on Create and Craft a couple of weeks ago. It was one of my DT cards and I haven't got around to posting it until now. Leonie (Create and Craft) said it was 'cracking' so I felt I had to show it.

It's a twisted easel Get Well card. I love the colours of this backing paper and the style of the card.

I used an 8x8 card and cut an 8x8 piece of white card to make the easel part. I matted a piece of the blue/turquoise backing paper onto silver mirri before placing on the base and the easel part. The topper is from the card making section and it is decoupaged to add depth. The top of the hat pin has been glazed using Pinflair glaze.

For the stopper, I made a small tissue box from the template I had made for my candle box but left the aperture open rather than placing acetate in there. I made the template fit a small packet of tissues and put these in the box before fixing the final side. I placed this at a jaunty angle and placed a pink rose on the corner. This matched the pink rose on the topper. In the very front corner, I placed a sentiment which read 'Get Well Soon'. On each side of the sentiment, I placed a pearl to add interest.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:-
Emma's Cards - Vintage (Closes end of month) (X)
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes (Entry No. 10) (X)
Make it Monday - Anything Goes (Entry No. 111) (X)

Thank you for calling over and for taking the time to leave a comment. It is very much appreciated.
Take care and happy crafting.

Kraftyhands March Challenge

Hi crafters,

Hope you are all well. Here is my DT card for the Kraftyhands March Challenge. You can enter the challenge here and take a look at the other DT cards for inspiration.

This month's theme is a sketch.

Here is my card using the sketch. I've used the Sunshine and Smiles Cd Rom from Kraftyhands for my design.

I used an 8x8 white card blank and matted a backing paper from the Cd onto a dark blue centura pearl card stock. The topper was taken from the Pyrimage section of the Cd and also matted onto the dark blue card.

I used a yellow backing paper and a yellow with white polka dots backing paper to make the fishtail effects. These too were matted onto the dark blue card. and raised from the base using 3D foam pads.

I took one of the toppers from the Cd and took this into Paint and removed the sentiment that was on. I then took it into Craft Artist and added my own sentiment - Happy Easter- which I felt went with the card as the flower is in an egg and it is for the March challenge and Easter falls in this month this year. I found some centura pearl paper in a matching dark blue and made a rosette on which to put the sentiment, although there are papers to make rosettes and instructions on the cd.

In the top right hand corner, I placed three flower gems which I found in my stash. I coloured these with Spectrum Noirs so that they matched the colour on the flower on the topper. I placed a gem in the middle of each flower gem which matched the backing paper.

Inside the card, I placed an insert. These can also be found on the Cd. I took it into Craft Artist and on one of the blank inserts, I added a verse - Wishing you an eggs-tra special Easter that's full of surprises. With love.

On the other blank insert, I flipped it so that the flower was on the opposite side.

Thank you for taking the time to come over and have a look. I appreciate it and your comments.

Happy crafting and don't forget to enter the challenge. Remember - you have to be in it to win it! Good luck.
